FULLERTON, CA—The campaign of Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva today announced that voter registration numbers released by the Orange County Registrar of Voters show Republican voter registration has slipped under 30% for the first time ever.

“When Sharon first won in 2012, Republican registration was at 37%, compared to 35.8% for Democrats,” said Quirk-Silva co-consultant Matt Reilly. “Now, Republicans are at 29.95% and Democrats are at 40.8%. That’s a net swing of more than 12% for Democrats in just six years.”

“This trend is very encouraging and a big boost for Sharon’s re-election chances,” Reilly continued.

Quirk-Silva spent over 30 years teaching in the Fullerton School District prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2016. She is the former Mayor of Fullerton and served in the Assembly from 2012-2014.

The 65th Assembly District includes Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, La Palma, Stanton and most of West Anaheim.
